“We thank you, God, we thank you— your Name is our favorite word; your mighty works are all we talk about.”
Psalm 75:1 (The Message)
I’ve seldom met a person with this attitude. There’s so much to talk about concerning sports, TV, movies, family, work, school, and the latest electronic gadgets. As a result we just sort of squeeze…God…out.
Try surprising a few people today by making this verse your practice. Don’t come across as a religious nut job, just let people know how grateful you are for God’s gifts and His grace. Talk about His “mighty works” (how He changed your life, how He saved your marriage, how He changed the way you relate to money, how He helped you overcome sickness or addiction, etc.).
So consider what comes out of your mouth. When the words of your mouth truly reflect the fact that “God is good all the time,” people will take note. Then who knows, maybe they’ll ask to hear more!
“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”
1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)
