Don’t you hate it when someone says, “I’ll pray for you”, and you can’t help but wonder if what they said is true? Our doubts are NOT because we question the other person’s integrity. Rather, we have doubts because we’re aware of our own lack of integrity. Sadly, we’ve all made the “I’ll pray for you” promise, and didn’t keep it.
Here’s some good news: whatever trouble you’re facing today, the Spirit of the living God praying for you. If you’re having the best day of your life, God’s Spirit is praying for you. When you’re hurting, happy or even indifferent, the third person of the Trinity is praying for you.
Take heart because there is one who says “I prayed for you today” and never lies. There is one who makes the promise to pray for you, and always keeps it. The Holy Spirit is praying for you right now. James 5:15 says, “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective” (NIV). How much more powerful and effective then are the prayers of a perfect God?
And in the same way–by our faith –the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don’t even know what we should pray for nor how to pray as we should, but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words.
