Recently I shared some practical steps about becoming a more relational leader. Today I want to talk about the cost of NOT being a relational leader. Here are some of the negative outcomes when you are not fostering relationships with the people you lead:
- Team members are more likely to make fun of you behind your back.
- Team members are less likely to care about your opinion.
- Team members may develop loyalty to one another, but NEVER to you or the organization.
- Team members will feel belittled or insulted when corrected.
- Team members will quit their boss (not their jobs) and find work elsewhere.
These are jut 5 of my thoughts. What else needs to be added?
