In 2009 I had the privilege of speaking at the RightNow Conference in Dallas. I still can’t believe they put me on the same stage with Francis Chan, Matt Chandler, Kay Warren, and George Barna. I’m still blown away by the honor!
Anyway, I was speaking about groups being on mission, and as happens at all conferences today, people were commenting about my talk on Twitter. My most tweeted about quote was this:
“People are dying and going to Hell and we’re worried about who’s bringing enchi-fricken-ladas!”
Some people didn’t like the term “fricken”, but I can’t do anything about that.
My point is simple: the most critical activity we can perform on this earth is evangelism. Let us never forget that we will have eternity to eat great food with our fellow Christ-followers. We will have forever to talk about the mysteries of the Bible. We’ll have the rest of time to worship God. But we only have now to reach people for Jesus.
There will be no one in Heaven who needs to be reached…NO ONE! Evangelism will cease to exist on the other side of this life. People can only be reached now. So let’s put down the enchiladas and the rest of our favorite small-group-snacks, and get busy reaching people who desperately need the love of Jesus. Time is running out!
