Leaders in the Body of Christ are targets.  Our spiritual enemy wants to destroy, disgrace, and discredit our leaders so the mission of Christ is embarrassed and bogged down.  Our spiritual enemy is good at what he does.

Ladies, I have to confess that I don’t know the areas of weakness Satan chooses to exploit in your lives (leave a comment and share the big 3 for ladies), but For male leaders there are 3 primary areas of attack.  Although Satan tries thousands of ways to take leaders out, these three areas are the ones that he tends to exploit with the most success in the lives of men.  They are:

1. Sex (physical affairs, emotional affairs, lust, porn addiction, etc.)
2. Money (bad use of church money, stealing from the church, dishonesty in expense reporting, etc.)
3. Power (arrogance, thinking too highly of oneself, using people, neglecting people, etc.)

The amazing thing about these three areas of attack is that they are almost never blind spots.  99.99% of the time we are aware of the area or areas that Satan is most likely to attack.  As leaders we MUST guard our areas of weakness.  We MUST have accountability partners who will ask us the tough questions.

The reason we don’t guard our weak spots comes down to one thing:  pride.  We are too proud to think that we could ever really fall from our position of leadership.  Well here’s a newsflash: NONE OF US ARE IMMUNE!  Here’s another one:  ALL LEADERS ARE TARGETS!

Ask yourself this tough question: “If Satan were to take me out of leadership today, what area of weakness would he exploit?”

Now get up and fortify your defenses today.  Get mad about the ways Satan exploits your weaknesses!  Get mad and do something about it!! Confess your weaknesses and your sins to the Father then to a friend. Build some accountability into your life.  If you already have accountability, get more.  Jesus is too precious for us to dishonor, His cause is too important for us to discredit, and His church is too valuable for us to risk.
