This is my youngest son, Hayden. Today’s his birthday. That picture was taken at a petting zoo. I remember snapping that picture and having a whole ton of stuff run through my mind in that instant. Ever have that happen? Well today, I’d like to give you a peek into my mind. Today you get to read all of the random thoughts that flowed through my mind in the instant it took me to snap one photo. I know it’s a frightening prospect, but here goes.
Holy smokes I can’t believe that giant kid is my baby. That’s funny, my kid is holding a kid. How could anyone kill a cute little goat? Goats have been used for religious sacrifices all over the world. The Jews used lambs though. Can’t imagine being a temple priest and killing a bunch of little lambs. I don’t think I could do it.
For that matter, if I owned a cute little baby lamb I don’t think I could take it to the temple to be killed. God did a lot more than take his cute little lamb to the altar of sacrifice; He took his son. Look how cute Hayden is. He’s so big. I love him more than life. There’s not a chance I’d let him die as a sacrifice for all the screwed up people in the world. NO WAY!
How’d you do it, Lord? I can’t even begin to imagine.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
~John 3:16 (NLT)
Alan, I am with you. God’s hands indeed stretched out to encompass the whole world that night that He allowed His Son to die on the cross knowing what everyone is like in the world.
I would have a hard time giving up any of my relatives. Thank you Lord. Martha
You said it Martha!
